Adam Wernecke

Hello hello, I have finally finished cleaning my garage and have restored functionality to my studio space. The rush on my last painting created a huge mess in the area. I also recieved a TON of painting supplies from my Grandmother; water color, oil, and other supplies. So, in the next few weeks I hope to start posting more paintings, drawings and what have you to the site again. Please be safe out there and enjoy your summer wherever you may be.

The first pics from my Where Ships Happen entry… 20 artists will be making these 3×3 foot paintings and they will be displayed during the month of July in Downtown Bay City Michigan. People will be able to see the paintings on display in various businesses downtown, where they can bid on them for purchase, and vote for their favorites. So come out and show your support for your favorite artists as we celebrate the Tall Ships coming to town!

**Edit: Getting closer… just a bit more here and there and it should be ready for Thursday!

Studio 23: Art Battle

Had a great time at the Studio 23 Art Battle. There was wonderful food and free drinks, and I got to do what I love for three hours! This time I was pleased with my painting I produced. I find that the three hour deadlines at art battles  are great for honing your skills, you have to make quick decisions, and work with the paint while it is still wet in many cases. For planning this time, I kept it simple, and told my self I would paint a trash-esque collage. It was a broad goal, and allowed my to follow the paint to the finished project.

Continuation of Trash III

I am continuing a theme with this piece. This is the Third painting in the series and is the smallest so far. All the pieces from the series are very textured, and are built up with multiple layers of paint, mediums, and assemblage.

***FINISHED*** This painting is finished and can be viewed on the “Paintings” page.

    • Puns In Country Music Songs Done Right September 3, 2010
Puns have long been a part of country music songs -- think of song titles such as George Jones' "She Took My Keys Away, and Now She Won't Drive Me to Drink" or Lee Ann Womack's "Am I the Only Thing That You Done Wrong?" Linguist Geoff Nunberg says that the genre's willingness to play with lyrics and song titles uncover […]
    • '666': A Tale Of The Tribulation So Bad, It's Good September 3, 2010
When Rhoda Janzen was 9, her mother busted her for reading the thriller 666 during an incredibly dull sermon at their Mennonite church. To this day, Janzen revels in the terribly written prose about the Antichrist, cannibalism, global famine and apocalyptic doom. […]
    • 'The American': A Domestic Bond, Drawn In Miniature September 3, 2010
George Clooney's latest outing showcases a more internal performance -- as an assassin whose personal life threatens to further complicate an already hard-to-manage career. Kenneth Turan says Anton Corbijn's drama is impeccably composed and beautifully shot -- if a little lacking on the emotional urgency front. […]
    • 'Public Enemy' Wraps Up A Criminally Good Saga September 2, 2010
Neither director Jean-Francois Richet's style nor star Vincent Cassel's swagger falters in Public Enemy Number One, the exhilarating follow-up to Mesrine: Killer Instinct. With its shootouts, prison breaks and wild flights of ego, the saga's second half was sure to be watchable. It's also smart, funny and incisive -- about the criminal an […]
